Introducing our Q1 Website Roadmap

On October 8, 2020, APG proudly launched our new website to create a better online experience for you, our valued customer, and ultimately create a hassle-free online experience.  Our goal has always been to have a website which would allow you to visit our website, quickly find what you are looking for, place an order, and be on your way.  We feel as we have taken large strides to accomplishing this and are about to get much closer with our Q1 Website Update.

Since our launch, we have staggered our product line releases to ensure the information is not only accurate but informative and intuitive.  Our product managers have taken the product lines and done the attribution work on the back end to allow the ability of in-depth item filtering, alternative compatible items, and future online item configurators.  With the beginning of the new year, we have added all our standard items online for ordering in a limited capacity but are currently focusing on getting all these items fully attributed and built out fully for your ordering convenience.

What Updates Have We Seen?

If we compare our previous website to our updated version, you will start to see the differences in design and how information is conveyed.  Our new site puts the most important item information front-and-center by standardizing how this information is displayed to ensure the information you need is quickly available at-a-glance and easily understandable.  This is most apparent when looking at our redesigned item pages.  Below you will see an interactive comparison between our previous item page (left) and our redesigned page (right).

Our updated item pages make full use of the available screen real estate by providing you with:

  • An easily identifiable product name
  • Real-time stock levels
  • At-a-glance detailed product information
  • Your customer-specific pricing

The previous website either hid this information by not clearly showing you where to find it or just did not have it.  Additional improvements can be seen in how you find and filter for items.  For example, let say you are looking for a Cam & Groove Coupling and only knew the industry term for that specific part.  On the previous website, unless you knew the exact SKU, you would have a difficult time finding a compatible item.  The only filtering for products that was available was category-specific.  With our updated site, there are various filters available for you to drill-down a find multiple compatible items ranging across the same product category.   You can explore some of these filters on our O-Ring, Cam & Groove, and Gasket pages.  With the Hassle-Free experience in mind, we've enabled the ability to add items straight from the filtering tables rather than having to go to the item page.  You can do this by cl ickign the eyeball or "Quick View" to see a condensed item page.

In addition to the Item and Filtering pages, we have even taken the opportunity to improve searching for an item by reconstructing the search bar at the top of every page.  We have implemented what’s called “Global Search” on our website.  This means by typing any word at the top in the search bar, you query the entire catalog of Items, Knowledge Base articles, Product Information, and much more for a like-term.  This then directs you to the Search Results page where you can do basic filtering to drill-down further to an item or go directly to a Knowledge Base Article associated with the searched term.
