Ordered as 0297187, this is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A Square-Cut Cord Stock measuring a cross section of 0.187 in (4.75 mm). The square-cut cord stock lets you fabricate a square-cut seal to any circumference without a special tooling charge.

Viton® (FKM) is specified for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. The compound resists engine and transmission fluids, petroleum oils and fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. It should not be specified for service in low-molecular-weight organic acids or amines. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

Typical settings include semiconductor equipment, chemical processing, and oil and gas.
