.250 FLUOROELASTOMER SQ CORD

Part number 0297250 is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A Square-Cut Cord Stock built to a cross section of 0.25 in (6.35 mm). A square-cut cord stock supplies profiled extrusion for grooves a round cord cannot fill.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is known for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. This material stands up to many acids, petroleum oils and fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Verify compatibility before use with ketones and esters or hot water and steam. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
