.313 FLUOROELASTOMER SQ CORD

0297313 is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A Square-Cut Cord Stock supplied with a cross section of 0.313 in (8 mm). In service, this square-cut cord stock lets you fabricate a square-cut seal to any circumference without a special tooling charge.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is specified for very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. It resists many acids, chlorinated solvents, and engine and transmission fluids. Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or ketones and esters call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
