Ordered as 0297375, this is a black Viton® (FKM) 75 Shore A Square-Cut Cord Stock built to a cross section of 0.375 in (9.53 mm). The square-cut cord stock supplies profiled extrusion for grooves a round cord cannot fill.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) delivers outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. It resists many acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and aggressive chemicals. It should not be specified for service in amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
