Product Specification

-
Part number TST388SO is an AS568-388 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 18.953 in (481.41 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 19.373 in (492.07 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The compound resists solvents, oxidizing media, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.

Common environments for this compound include aggressive-media pipelines, laboratory equipment, and pharmaceutical and biotech.

Order part number TST388SO, sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 19 inch. Check the compound against your process media, pressure and temperature before committing to a design. If you need a size, durometer or compound that is not listed, APG can cross-reference from a print, a sample or a competitor part number.
