This material stands up to salt water and washdown, corrosion and oxidation, and chemical attack. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Stainless Steel is specified for excellent corrosion resistance in washdown and marine service, dimensional stability under thermal cycling. It should not be specified for service in galvanic pairing with dissimilar metals or chloride stress cracking in some grades.
