The material holds up against elevated temperature, high pressure, and salt water and washdown. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Stainless Steel delivers long service life in demanding outdoor environments, excellent corrosion resistance in washdown and marine service. It should not be specified for service in galvanic pairing with dissimilar metals or chloride stress cracking in some grades.
