4MPL8 is a Plain Gauge Glass. In service, this gauge glass seats in a gauge frame to give a protected, direct view of process level.

The material holds up against internal pressure, thermal shock, and chemical attack from water and steam. Borosilicate gauge glass is specified for clear, direct visual indication of liquid level and borosilicate construction for thermal shock resistance. Applications involving service beyond the rated pressure and temperature or mechanical impact call for a different compound.

It sees regular use in food and beverage processing, boilers and steam drums, and water treatment.
