As a material, Graphite Filament Packing is valued for exceptional temperature capability well beyond elastomeric materials and conformability that seals imperfect flange faces. This material stands up to fire exposure, thermal shock, and very high temperature. It should not be specified for service in highly oxidizing service above rated temperature or strong oxidizing acids.

Common environments for this compound include high-temperature process piping, power generation, and exhaust and flue gas.
