568-004 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SV70004, an AS568-004 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.21 in (5.33 mm). A square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The compound resists chlorinated solvents, engine and transmission fluids, and aggressive chemicals. Viton® (FKM) is valued for outstanding high-temperature capability and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or hot water and steam will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in semiconductor equipment, chemical processing, and aerospace.
