568-037 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-037 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 2.489 in (63.22 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.629 in (66.78 mm), catalogued under part number SV70037. It offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Viton® (FKM) offers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. It resists petroleum oils and fuels, many acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in hot water and steam or ketones and esters. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
