This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-044 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 3.739 in (94.97 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.879 in (98.53 mm), catalogued under part number SV70044. It resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, petroleum oils and fuels, and aggressive chemicals. Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with ketones and esters or amines. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area.
