568-103 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SH70103, an AS568-103 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.081 in (2.06 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.287 in (7.29 mm). A square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers strong abrasion and tear resistance, the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. The compound resists water, hydraulic fluids, and greases and lubricants. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to automotive brake fluid or polar solvents will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
