The SV70103 is an AS568-103 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.081 in (2.06 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.287 in (7.29 mm). This square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.
The material holds up against aggressive chemicals, engine and transmission fluids, and petroleum oils and fuels. Viton® (FKM) is known for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or ketones and esters are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
You will find this material specified across automotive fuel systems, high-temperature process equipment, and chemical processing.
SV70103 ships individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 3/32 inch. Application requirements vary, so validate compatibility with your process conditions prior to installation. For a size or compound outside the standard catalog, APG can quote from a print or sample.
