568-106 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Part number SV70106 is an AS568-106 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.174 in (4.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.38 in (9.65 mm). A square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and very low compression set at elevated temperature. The material holds up against aggressive chemicals, engine and transmission fluids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
