568-108 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-108 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 0.237 in (6.02 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.443 in (11.25 mm), catalogued under part number SH70108. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is specified here for reliable performance in both static and dynamic service, strong abrasion and tear resistance. The material holds up against propane and butane, many alcohols, and greases and lubricants. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where ozone and direct sunlight or ketones are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
