Ordered as SV70108, this is an AS568-108 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.237 in (6.02 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.443 in (11.25 mm). The square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Expect good resistance to many acids, chlorinated solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for outstanding high-temperature capability and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving ketones and esters or hot water and steam call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
