APG stocks the SV70120, an AS568-120 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.987 in (25.07 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.193 in (30.3 mm). A square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, chlorinated solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Viton® (FKM) is specified for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving amines or ketones and esters call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in chemical processing, automotive fuel systems, and semiconductor equipment.
