568-124 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-124 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 1.237 in (31.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.443 in (36.65 mm), catalogued under part number SV70124. It presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) offers long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. The compound resists aromatic hydrocarbons, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in low-molecular-weight organic acids or ketones and esters. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
