568-130 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-130 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 1.612 in (40.94 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.818 in (46.18 mm), catalogued under part number SV70130. It offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Expect good resistance to many acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with hot water and steam or ketones and esters. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
