568-141 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70141, this is an AS568-141 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.3 in (58.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.506 in (63.65 mm). The square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

Expect good resistance to engine and transmission fluids, petroleum oils and fuels, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Viton® (FKM) offers the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or hot water and steam will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
