568-143 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70143, this is an AS568-143 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 2.425 in (61.6 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.631 in (66.83 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. The material holds up against aromatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and fuels, and engine and transmission fluids. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Exposure to low-molecular-weight organic acids or amines will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

Typical settings include chemical processing, high-temperature process equipment, and automotive fuel systems.
