APG stocks the SV70152, an AS568-152 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 3.237 in (82.22 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.443 in (87.45 mm). A square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Viton® (FKM) offers very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Expect good resistance to engine and transmission fluids, petroleum oils and fuels, and many acids. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
