SV70157 is an AS568-157 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 4.487 in (113.97 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.693 in (119.2 mm). In service, this square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. Expect good resistance to many acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
