568-160 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70160, this is an AS568-160 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.237 in (133.02 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.443 in (138.25 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Expect good resistance to petroleum oils and fuels, engine and transmission fluids, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is specified for the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
