568-164 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SV70164 is an AS568-164 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 6.237 in (158.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.443 in (163.65 mm). This square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Viton® (FKM) delivers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and many acids. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where low-molecular-weight organic acids or ketones and esters are present. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
