568-166 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SV70166, an AS568-166 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 6.737 in (171.12 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.943 in (176.35 mm). A square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Expect good resistance to aggressive chemicals, petroleum oils and fuels, and engine and transmission fluids. Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for very low compression set at elevated temperature and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam are present. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in high-temperature process equipment, aerospace, and oil and gas.
