568-175 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

SH70175 is an AS568-175 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 8.987 in (228.27 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.193 in (233.5 mm). In service, this square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The compound resists greases and lubricants, petroleum-based oils, and propane and butane. Buna-N (Nitrile) delivers strong abrasion and tear resistance, the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to ozone and direct sunlight or ketones will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
