APG stocks the SV70176, an AS568-176 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 9.237 in (234.62 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.443 in (239.85 mm). A square-cut ring presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. Expect good resistance to petroleum oils and fuels, chlorinated solvents, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
