568-201 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

SH70201 is an AS568-201 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.171 in (4.34 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.449 in (11.4 mm). In service, this square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

It resists greases and lubricants, many alcohols, and petroleum-based oils. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for strong abrasion and tear resistance, an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs. Service temperature is rated from -40°F (-40°C) through 250°F (121.1°C). Exposure to ozone and direct sunlight or polar solvents will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
