568-208 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70208, this is an AS568-208 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.609 in (15.47 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.887 in (22.53 mm). The square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

It resists engine and transmission fluids, many acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons. Viton® (FKM) is known for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids are present. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
