568-217 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Part number SV70217 is an AS568-217 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 1.171 in (29.74 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.449 in (36.8 mm). A square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature and outstanding high-temperature capability. The compound resists engine and transmission fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and petroleum oils and fuels. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with low-molecular-weight organic acids or amines. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in automotive fuel systems, semiconductor equipment, and oil and gas.
