SV70233 is an AS568-233 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 2.859 in (72.62 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.137 in (79.68 mm). In service, this square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Viton® (FKM) is specified here for very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. This material stands up to chlorinated solvents, petroleum oils and fuels, and aggressive chemicals. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or amines will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
