568-255 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

The SV70255 is an AS568-255 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.609 in (142.47 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.887 in (149.53 mm). This square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, many acids, and petroleum oils and fuels. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, very low compression set at elevated temperature. The material carries a published service range of -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Verify compatibility before use with amines or hot water and steam. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
