568-264 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-264 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A measuring an inside diameter of 7.484 in (190.09 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 7.762 in (197.15 mm), catalogued under part number SV70264. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. The compound resists petroleum oils and fuels, aggressive chemicals, and many acids. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where hot water and steam or amines are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in semiconductor equipment, aerospace, and oil and gas.
