568-269 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-269 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 8.734 in (221.84 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.012 in (228.9 mm), catalogued under part number SV70269. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Expect good resistance to engine and transmission fluids, chlorinated solvents, and petroleum oils and fuels. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is known for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Exposure to low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in semiconductor equipment, aerospace, and high-temperature process equipment.
