SV70271 is an AS568-271 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 9.234 in (234.54 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.512 in (241.6 mm). In service, this square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

Expect good resistance to aggressive chemicals, petroleum oils and fuels, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and very low compression set at elevated temperature. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

Typical settings include high-temperature process equipment, chemical processing, and aerospace.
