SV70274 is an AS568-274 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 9.984 in (253.59 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.262 in (260.65 mm). In service, this square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) offers the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Applications involving amines or low-molecular-weight organic acids call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
