Ordered as SH70276, this is an AS568-276 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 10.984 in (278.99 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 11.262 in (286.05 mm). The square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.

As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs and the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. It resists greases and lubricants, many alcohols, and water. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). It is not the right choice where polar solvents or ozone and direct sunlight are present. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
