568-312 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SH70312, this is an AS568-312 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.6 in (15.24 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.02 in (25.91 mm). The square-cut ring provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is widely chosen for the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer, strong abrasion and tear resistance. Expect good resistance to propane and butane, water, and greases and lubricants. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
