568-314 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-314 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 0.725 in (18.42 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.145 in (29.08 mm), catalogued under part number SV70314. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

This material stands up to chlorinated solvents, aggressive chemicals, and engine and transmission fluids. Viton® (FKM) is specified for long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and outstanding high-temperature capability. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving hot water and steam or ketones and esters call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in oil and gas, automotive fuel systems, and high-temperature process equipment.
