568-316 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-316 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 0.85 in (21.59 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.27 in (32.26 mm), catalogued under part number SV70316. It presents a flat rectangular section that cannot roll or twist in its groove, making it a dependable static seal.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) offers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. It resists petroleum oils and fuels, engine and transmission fluids, and many acids. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in amines or ketones and esters. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in automotive fuel systems, oil and gas, and aerospace.
