568-317 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

APG stocks the SV70317, an AS568-317 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring with an inside diameter of 0.912 in (23.16 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.332 in (33.83 mm). A square-cut ring seals with a broad flat contact band instead of the line contact of a round-section ring.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is specified for outstanding high-temperature capability and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. It resists engine and transmission fluids, chlorinated solvents, and aggressive chemicals. Published continuous service range is -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Exposure to ketones and esters or hot water and steam will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
