This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-320 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A built to an inside diameter of 1.1 in (27.94 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.52 in (38.61 mm), catalogued under part number SV70320. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.
As a material, Viton® (FKM) offers very low compression set at elevated temperature, excellent resistance to compression set and permeation. It resists aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and engine and transmission fluids. Service temperature is rated from -15°F (-26.1°C) through 400°F (204.4°C). It is not the right choice where amines or hot water and steam are present. The profile itself contributes simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
You will find this material specified across semiconductor equipment, automotive fuel systems, and chemical processing.
Stocked as SV70320 and sold individually. Check the compound against your process media, pressure and temperature before committing to a design. APG can cross-reference from an existing part number, a drawing or a physical sample if this size is not an exact match.
