568-321 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-321 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 1.162 in (29.51 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.582 in (40.18 mm), catalogued under part number SV70321. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) delivers the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit and outstanding high-temperature capability. The compound resists many acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and engine and transmission fluids. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). It should not be specified for service in ketones and esters or low-molecular-weight organic acids. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
