568-324 BUNA 70 SQUARE CUT RINGS

SH70324 is an AS568-324 black Buna-N (Nitrile) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.35 in (34.29 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.77 in (44.96 mm). In service, this square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

Buna-N (Nitrile) is valued for an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs and low compression set under sustained load. Expect good resistance to propane and butane, petroleum-based oils, and water. Continuous operating temperature is published at -40°F (-40°C) to 250°F (121.1°C). Applications involving polar solvents or ozone and direct sunlight call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size and a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
