568-324 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

This square-cut ring is supplied in AS568-324 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A supplied with an inside diameter of 1.35 in (34.29 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.77 in (44.96 mm), catalogued under part number SV70324. It provides an economical lathe-cut alternative where a moulded o-ring is not required.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) offers long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments and the industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. The material holds up against chlorinated solvents, engine and transmission fluids, and aggressive chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or hot water and steam call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.

It sees regular use in automotive fuel systems, high-temperature process equipment, and aerospace.
