APG stocks the SV70325, an AS568-325 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring built to an inside diameter of 1.475 in (37.47 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.895 in (48.13 mm). A square-cut ring resists the spiral failure that affects round rings on long reciprocating strokes.
Expect good resistance to petroleum oils and fuels, many acids, and engine and transmission fluids. Viton® (FKM) delivers excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, outstanding high-temperature capability. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Exposure to hot water and steam or low-molecular-weight organic acids will shorten service life. The profile itself contributes a flat contact band that spreads sealing load across a wider area and simple lathe-cut manufacture at low tooling cost. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
You will find this material specified across automotive fuel systems, chemical processing, and aerospace.
Stocked as SV70325 and sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 1 1/2 inch. Application requirements vary, so validate compatibility with your process conditions prior to installation.
