568-360 FKM 75 SQUARE CUT RINGS

Ordered as SV70360, this is an AS568-360 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A Square-Cut Ring measuring an inside diameter of 5.85 in (148.59 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.27 in (159.26 mm). The square-cut ring offers greater contact area against the gland wall than an equivalent o-ring.

As a material, Viton® (FKM) is specified for very low compression set at elevated temperature and outstanding high-temperature capability. The material holds up against petroleum oils and fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons, and engine and transmission fluids. Continuous operating temperature is published at -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C). Applications involving ketones and esters or amines call for a different compound. The profile itself contributes a rectangular section that will not roll in the groove and greater resistance to extrusion than a round section of the same size. Note that a square section is less suited to high-speed rotary service, where the larger contact area raises friction and heat.
